GOVERNANCE RANKING STUDY
The Namibia Institute of Corporate Governance (NICG), in collaboration with the Department of Public Enterprises under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance, is proud to announce the launch of the Governance Ranking Study—an initiative designed to assess, benchmark, and promote excellence in corporate governance across Namibia. Commissioned by the Ministry of Finance, this initiative is funded by the European Union, which has allocated €20,000 in support of its implementation.
“The Governance Ranking Study represents a major step forward in strengthening transparency, accountability, and performance across both public and private sector institutions,” said Edla Kaumbi, Executive Director of NICG. “With the valued support of the EU and MFPE, we aim to set a new standard for good governance in Namibia.”
Ian Dupont, Deputy Head of Delegation at the EU Delegation to Namibia highlighted: “This initiative reflects the EU’s strong commitment to supporting Namibia’s efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust. Good governance is essential to sustainable development, democratic resilience, and building prosperity for Namibia’s citizens.”
The final results of the assessment will be published in a national report, offering participating organisations a powerful benchmark for self-evaluation and growth. The initiative also aims to foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging constructive, results-oriented competition. All information collected will be treated with the highest level of integrity.
Key milestones for the project include:
-
- Data collection and interviews: July – August 2025
- Completion of rankings and report: Mid-September 2025
- Public launch and stakeholder briefing: To be announced
This project forms part of a broader drive by the NICG and the Ministry of Finance to elevate governance standards, encourage transparency, and build public trust in institutional leadership.
